Soft Glow

The little ones, they can be so serene.

The Look

Little babies, they're not much to talk, but, they've still got a lot going on in there.

Shorts

No, those aren't really shorts, he's just got long legs!

Car Fire

Not quite what you expect to see, driving down the street.

Jury Duty

Finally got to serve on an actual jury. Of course, they don't let you take cameras into the court room, but, I did get the chance to ride the light rail for a week.

Fall Foliage

It's that time of year again (well, at least in California).

Grass

There's just something about green lawns. They're so artificial, yet so appealing.

Dead Leaves

It's a maple tree, I think. And, uh, yeah, dust on the sensor.

Deliberation

I usually consider myself a portrait photographer. Not that I'm especially good at it or anything, it's just something I enjoy. But of course, there's so much more out there.

Eating Out

It's not that just anything will go in his mouth. But, when it does, it goes way in there.

Tied Down

He generally doesn't like being held in one place, but, then again, he doesn't seem to have any problems with the carseat.

Popcorn Chicken

Take something--something ostensibly healthy--then batter it up, and, uh, deep fry it. Tastes great, though.

Noodle House

It's supposed to be some popular restaurant in Taiwan, but, they just opened one here, so, we had to try it out. It's popular because it's so good, but, maybe it's not so good because it's so popular.

Birding

I don't usually take bird photos, but, I saw one flying by, so I took a shot. I'm surprised how well it came out, for just a quick grab.

The Usual Suspects

Sometimes they just get that guilty look.

Sophie

Julian is big and all, but, it's still quite startling seeing really tiny kids running around. Apparantly, they come in all shapes and sizes.

Over There

It's hard to tell what an infant wants. They can be quite subtle. Of course, on the plus side, it's pretty easy to tell what they don't like.

Fisheye

Who needs a thousand dollar lens when you can use a 10 cent Christmas ornament from Ikea?

In His Element

Who knows what's going on in there, but, he seems to keep himself occupied (mostly).

Butternut Squash

First "real" solid food. Pureed, and mixed with rice cereal. Can't believe it, he ate it all.

Newborns

Babies grow up so fast, but, it's all so gradual. It's hard to imagine Julian was that small once, too.

Toys

Something about having a baby, makes you all nostalgic. Back in the old days, only the grown up toys had batteries.

Munch Munch

Like he was born Pac Man, he's got to keep chomping.

Leftover Turkey Sandwiches

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. A little bit of heaven between two slices of bread.

Drinks

Back in the day, they had bowls of fruit and stuff. Now we've got two liter bottles, and cans of soda.

Uncle Tony

Being a father is one thing, but, I can still remember crawling around on the floor.

Grandma

Loves the little one, but, don't they all?

Thanksgiving

It's great having everyone over. And, a new member of the family, to boot.

Big Bird

Yikes, it's huge--bigger than Julian!

Test Fit

Gobble gobble, it's almost turkey time!

Ready to Eat

He's just taken naturally to solid foods. Figures, I guess.

Farewell

Sad, but, kind of relieved, as well. Hopefully, somebody else is enjoying it now.

Climbing

It's like kids are genetically engrained to climb stuff. I mean, he just started crawling--I just stuck him in front of the stairs, next thing you know, he climbed two flights!

Ponytail

It's not so much that we wanted a girl or anything, it's just that if the coin flipped the other way or something, we think he'd be so cute. Of course, when he's a teenager, I'm sure he'll never live it down.

Quiche

Who say's real men don't eat quiche? I love 'em.

miata.net

Zooming around Laguna Seca, spinning out in the corkscrew--those were the days.

The Third Car

Bad back, plus baby, and dead battery, equals no zoom zoom.

Class Pictures

Not sure if they did this in my day, but, the lengths you have to go through to take some baby's portrait. Yikes!

Jumpsuits

It's not that anyone really wears them anymore, it's just part of the cultural zeitgeist.

Hangover

Nine months old, so, he's been on the outside just about as long as he'd been on the inside. But, he still looks a bit groggy.

Halloween and Christmas

Two great tastes that taste great together. Kids are cute enough as is, but, it's still great to accessorize.

Sunday, November 14, 2004

Independance Pancake

Kind of like a regular pancake, but, put all the batter in a pan, heat it up on the stove 'til it bubbles, and then stick the whole thing in the oven. Voila, ghetto souffle.

Fall Foliage

Actually, it's November, isn't that winter? Ah well, this is California.

Herding

Little kids are just like the big kids, they all want to do what the other ones are.

Kyle

Such a cutie pie. You think your baby is the super model of babies, but, stick them in a room full of babies, and, they're all just so adorable.

Crawling

It seemed like forever, waiting for him to become mobile. Next thing you know, he's all over the place!

Pudgy

Depending on the light and stuff, babies can really change a lot, but, no doubt about it, he's kinda porky.

Three Faces

Goofy Julian, loves to make faces. We're not sure where he picked up that tongue thing, but, it's pretty hilarious.

Colors

You wonder why they make children's toys in such bright colors. They really do prefer them. That's great, because they have way more curiosity than a village can supply.

Solid Foods

Not an especially reluctant eater, but, rather messy, nonetheless.
